Higher Diploma in Family Guidance & Reconciliation

The family is the basic building block of human society and the most important institution that performs a variety of social functions for both the community and its members. The family is considered a safe haven for every individual, and it is the first environment within which his or her personality is shaped and cultural values are learned and absorbed. It is also one of the most important institutions directly affected by social change that leads to problems affecting family roles and functions. The failure to deal with such problems results in unhealthy dysfunctional families and breakdowns that negatively impact society as a whole.

King Abdulaziz University, in its endeavor to fulfill its stated mission of serving the community, working through the College of Arts; especially the Sociology and Social Work Department, has created a Higher Diploma in Family Guidance and Reconciliation. The Diploma deals with family problems and how they should be solved using scientific procedures and methodologies. The Diploma was approved by the University Council during its fifth session held on
