Abstract
:
This Ph.D. thesis gives a new technique for segmenting handwritten Arabic words and recognizing them. Recognition done by using structural features distributed among windows in the smallest rectangle surrounding each character after segmenting the word. Preprocessing phase includes removing of noise, thinning and resolving the problem of overlapping.
