Several years ago established the university libraries on their websites as a means of providing services to clients remotely, and provide sources of information Calfhars mechanism and rules of bibliographic information and full texts of use, and it became important to evaluate and assess the actual role they play. The study aims to identify the services available at the sites of university libraries on the Internet, and to identify methods and routes used by the organization of content and service delivery. To assess the contents of the sites of university libraries and to identify the services provided by the researcher used a checklist (Checklist) included the most important elements that must be met to ensure the integration of site content, the university library and a special focus on services and resources available. The study sample consisted of sixteen sites for university libraries in the GCC. The study found a set of general findings and facts about the contents of the sites of university libraries of the most important, poor content and lack of information in some locations, and frequency dispersion of information, put the information under the headings and names that are not clear, and with respect to services loan came first, and then inter-library loan, and then current awareness, and respond to reference queries, and education of beneficiaries. With regard to the source catalogs were the most common mechanism, then sources of publishers and agents, and e-books and Internet sources, electronic sources, and Arabic. The study also concluded a series of recommendations which aim to develop sites of university libraries and the expansion of services and resources provided commensurate with the needs and interests of beneficiaries, and the need for attention to human resource development and rehabilitation to deal with the electronic environment and the ability to manage your library's website and activate online services and communication with the beneficiaries. In conclusion, a set of professional guidelines for the development of content in university libraries. |
