Abstract : The study discussed the definition of Meta search engines, characteristics and mechanism of it, and identified techniques used in dealing with queries and the order of results and search strategies used, and compares them to identify the most important meta search engines that can be relied upon in the conduct of scientific research. The study found a list of criteria proposed to assess the meta search engines and has reached up to 42 standard were distributed to the five key elements: the famous of meta search engine ,determine the sources of research that we are dealing with and the possibilities and ways of presenting research results and additional services. The study found that 92.1% of the total meta search engines based on parallel search technology The rest of the meta search engines depend on the sequential search
