Abstract : This thesis investigates the forms of plurals and diminutives and compares a syllabic analysis of them with an analysis from a traditional point of view. In addition, this research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using syllabic analysis in the field of Arabic morpho-phonology. The methodology followed in this study is based on both syllabic and phonological analysis, to distinguish the differences between the former and the latter. The most significant outcome of this research is that the syllabic description of Arabic language could be more affective in deeper understanding of some phonological and morphological phenomena. However, syllabic analysis is in need of being studied aligned with morphology and phonology approaches, which give a better understanding of different types of syllabic changes.
