All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet, Muhammad, his family and his companions.
This thesis is part of the project on Ibn Attiyah’s preponderance in his book of exegesis. I studied, in this thesis, the following surahs (chapters): Al-Jathiyah, Al-Ahkaf, Muhammad, Al-Fateh, and Al- Hujorat. The purpose of this study is: First: gathering Ibn Attyiah’s preponderances, studying and comparing them with that of other exegesists, together with presenting evidence and supportive arguments for each statement, whenever possible. Then, the most correct and most acceptable statement is presented as regards the explanation of the verse (Ayah), in accordance with the scholars’ established rules of preponderance.Second: Projecting Ibn Attiyah’s method in preponderating, and the patterns he used, in addition to stating aspects of preponderance that he adopted to boost one of the statements given in explaining the (ayah).
In the study, I have adopted the analytical-inductive method and divided the research plan into an introduction, two sections and a conclusion.
As for the first section, it includes three chapters. The first chapter: comprises anintroduction to Ibn AttiyahAl-Andalusi. The second chapter: an introduction to the book “Al-MuharrerAl-Wajeez”, and the third one is about Ibn Attiya’s method of preponderance.
Section Two: it includes five chapters which deal with studying Ibn Attiya’s preponderance in interpreting surahs (Al-Jathiyah, Al-Ahkaf, Muhammad, Al-Fateh, and Al-Hujorat. In the conclusion, I state the most important results I have reached, among which are:
1- The interpretation of IbyAttiyah is one of the important exegesis books. It comprises various sciences and sources. It is also distinguished in its refinement and summary, its revision, editing and preponderance. It has left a clear impact on the books of exegesis that followed.
2- The study of the interpretation statements and giving a preponderance of them have a great impact on pondering over the verses of Allah’s Book, understanding them and linking them to the present reality. I have come across several points of contemplation which I mentioned in the study.
Among the most prominent recommendationsis:-To study the topic of (Ibn Attiyah’s Method in reconciling the probable statements of exegesis), and the topic of (Idealogical Issues on which Ibn Attiyah disagreed with the people of the Sunnah and the Community: a compilation and study). Doing this is a great service and a revision of this valuable interpretation (of the Quran). |
